Hypnosis has a long and established history as a tool for therapeutic change. Researchers estimate that your unconscious mind is taking care of at least 2.5 million things at any one time, while your conscious mind is only dealing with about seven things at once. Trance is a totally natural state that we all drift in and out of several times a day. Meditation, daydreaming, being lost in thought, are all forms of naturally occurring trance.
Hypnotic trance is a totally safe, natural enjoyable and relaxing state to be in. The unconscious mind will always act in your best interest. Contrary to popular belief, it is impossible to use hypnosis to 'program' someone to do something against their will. Whilst experiencing a hypnotic trance, people will usually be fully aware of what is happening around them and will naturally come out of the trance state when ready. You remain in absolute control throughout the hypnotherapy session.
Hypnotherapy/hypnosis creates a deeply relaxed and focused state of mind similar to that experienced during meditation. Half an hour of this profound mental relaxation can be more refreshing than a night’s sleep, tension and stress melt away. When your mind is in this very relaxed state you can make changes at a deep unconscious level and identify and resolve problems, creating inner peace. Hypnotherapy sessions respectfully empower you to make the changes in your life that you want in the way that is just right for you.
Judy provides a supportive, relaxing atmosphere in which to explore and resolve your problems and difficulties. Your needs and concerns are discussed in a relaxing, informal and supportive atmosphere. Self-help skills maybe taught and CDs provided for home use. Privacy and confidentiality are assured.
A typical session lasts one hour, structured to quickly resolve problems at a pace that is comfortable and suited to you. The number of sessions required depends on the issue and, more crucially, your motivation. However the aim of the treatment is to help as quickly as possible. On average, clients attend for somewhere between 2 to 5 sessions depending on the condition and response to the treatment.
Contra-indications
Please be aware that hypnosis is contra-indicated in some conditions, for example, psychotic illness or severe depression. Judy will be happy to discuss this with you and advise you on whether hypnosis is an appropriate treatment for you.
If you are having any medical treatment when you visit it is useful to let your doctor know that you have decided to have hypnotherapy so you receive the best care from everyone.
